Abstract

Background. The subject of the article concerns the peculiarities of university new models within globalization. The article presents the characteristics of the global processes that determine the trends of university education development (globalization, internationalization, knowledge economy formation) from the points of the theory of culture. The establishment of new university models is a historically conditioned process, related to the transformations taking place in culture and society. The paper presents and characterizes the leading university models operating in the context of globalization. These include models of research / entrepreneurial /regional / project-based / virtual university. Special attentions is paid to «new managerialism » in modern university management.
Conclusions. The emergence of new models of university is connected with expansion of spheres of the higher education, the need to compete in the global market of educational services, scientific research and innovation. Modern university models entail a change in the nature of university relationship with a society, business environment, state, a response to the challenges of the global world. They have to respond to the challenges of the global world, which leads to academic culture transformation. It is shown that the values of the higher education allows preserving meaning and purpose of higher education within new models of a university.
